A Honey Project

We have had a five gallon bucket of honey in storage that wasn't usable because it had crystalized over the years but was still edible. (I am told ancient Egyptians stored honey that is considered edible even today ... probably one of the most preservable foods.) It tooks some extra umph to dig out the gooey globs from the bucket. Over a mild heat it returned to it's familiar state and then it was a matter of ladeling it into the funnel and into the freshly washed jars.

It made 25 pints total which will be nice to have on cornbread this winter along with honey butter and other delights.

What is Elegance?

"To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, to all bravely await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is my symphony."

William Henry Channing (1810 - 1884)

Birthday at the Roemhildt's

For my 36th Birthday I spent the day with Gweneviere at the Zoo. Isn't she cute eating birthday cake?

I love cats and waterfalls too.
The baby leopard's were taking a nap.

So was baby Grace ...
